It all started inauspiciously in a Saginaw “Budweiser bar” in 1997, when Rex Halfpenny, who founded the bimonthly Michigan Beer Guide that same year, gathered together representatives from the state’s roughly two dozen.

The 2019 Summer Beer Festival returned to Riverside Park in Ypsilanti on July 26, 2019. The 22nd annual event featured more than 1,100 different beers from more than 150 of the best craft beer.
Thank you to everyone who came out and braved the heat to join us for this year's Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti this past weekend. More than 12,000 people were expected to attended the festival over Friday and Saturday to try offerings from breweries all across Michigan --including some specialties we brought, such as Double Two Hearted and Mango.
